A healthy indoor climate
Apply by answering five questions below.
We invite manufacturers of e.g., air purifying technologies, ventilation systems, indoor climate and behavioral sensors, materials for the indoor surfaces, nudging and digital solution for better building use, to submit takes on commercial solutions creating healthy indoor climate - solutions that also gives value when there is no pandemic.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, focus was on buildings air being able to sustain good comfort – both regarding the temperature and CO2 content in the air. The pandemic brought an increased focus on a healthy indoor climate, as it has been shown that viruses spread via airborne droplets and contact between people. Indoor climate received a renewed focus in connection with the authorities’ guidelines on venting out rooms, higher focus on cleaning and the recommendations to move activities outdoors.
This calls for a new approach to indoor climate, with a focus on health in addition to comfort. There is a need to develop new venting, filtration and purifying strategies and solutions for our buildings and public space. Furthermore, there is a need for solutions that support a healthy indoor climate behavior.
In the use stage, power consumption from mechanical ventilation systems, which contributes to a substantial part of the buildings climate impact is a challenge. Therefore, it is essential that new approaches to healthy indoor climate does not negatively influence the buildings total climate impact.
Therefore, we wish to support solutions which contribute to healthy all year-round indoor climate whilst not becoming disproportionately expensive in operation and in relation to consumption of earth’s resources. We need to avoid a situation where indoor climate is dimensioned for special situations during a pandemic. We need to find solutions that create value all year round.
The type of solutions we are looking for:
- Indoor climate solution which in addition to the typical indoor climate parameters like Co2, temperature, sound, humidity, can be controlled based on virus particles.
- New ventilation control systems which allow change to the operating scenario and setting individual demands in special situations e.g., based on virus particles.
- Design tools which make it possible to simulate the buildings performance based on health and hygiene.
- (Digital) nudging solutions which support the best user behavior for healthy indoor climate.
