Before you apply
RESPOND provides financial support for solutions that address a need that arose during the COVID-19 pandemic, and which have a lasting potential to make a positive difference to the building sectors resilience, sustainability, and quality of life.
Funding
It is possible to apply for financial support up to 500,000 DKK incl. VAT (i.e. VAT cannot be added). The projects are expected to start January 2023 with a project period of up to 1 year.
All applied projects are offered to be included in a sample collection / inspiration catalog, published by Realdania. At the same time, all solutions will be an important contribution to Danish research.
Funding criteria
When assessing solutions, emphasis is placed on the fact that they have clearly received a development boost from the pandemic, and at the same time is contributing to a more resilient and sustainably built environment, as well as a better quality of life for its users. The criteria are listed below.
All solutions must, as a minimum, deliver on resilience. In addition, they must deliver on one or both of the following: sustainability and quality of life and.
Overall assessment criteria
The solutions must contribute to a more resilient society and sector when managing the next pandemic.
The solutions must support the building sectors green transition. Environmental sustainability is the main focus – in combination with a healthy business – thereby also economic sustainability.
The solutions must add value also at times with no pandemic. The solutions address a need the builders and end users face thereby creating a better quality of life. Quality of life includes social sustainability i.e., health, communities, and work environment.
Additional assessment criteria
The solutions must be technically (almost) fully developed and possibly tested in small scale. Where test and approvals, production and sales, and full-scale testing has not yet been completed (equivalent to TRL 6-8). The companies behind the solutions must also hold the necessary competences and maturity to bring the product to the market.
To obtain financial support from RESPOND it is important the companies show a large commercial interest in bringing the product to market. It is therefore expected the companies finance minimum 50% of the project budget. The company’s financial stake of the budget can come from the company itself or from payments when consumers want to try the solution.
The solutions must be scalable and be able to reach a broad market sector and be used in many places in the Danish and/or international market. RESPOND therefore, does not support solutions that are limited to a singular construction project.
With this RESPOND call Realdania also wishes to inspire and show the broad commercial innovation which has taken place as a response to the pandemic. Therefore, it is a criteria to ensure a broadness in the type of solutions that are awarded financial support.
